The UNESCO National Education Support Strategy for the Republic of Kenya 2011 Report is an in-depth assessment of the current level of educational standards in Kenya. It includes an analyses of literacy rates, access to education, transition rates, funding, and availability of resources. Many of the challenges that have been recognized and highlighted by the UN are ones that we have strongly identified with and are attempting to address in our learning program:

– Low participation rates, with only 23.2 percent of the eligible age group enrolled in secondary schools;

– Low transition rate from secondary to tertiary levels (particularly university);

– High costs of learning and teaching materials

– Loaded curriculum with emphasis on didactic teaching

– Rising repetition rates
