I came across this amazing story on Huffington Post, about a group of fourth grade students, who under the guidance of college students set up 6 outdoor libraries. These outdoor libraries, which are housed in waterproof bookcases, where created in response to several of the Detroit library branches being closed down due to lack of funding.

Borrowing is based on an honour system, with no library cards or late fees. The students are hoping to raise awareness about the growing library crisis being faced as shrinking funding and an increasing dominance of e-content is resulting in the closing down of public libraries.
