While meeting with Emily, the amazing rep at Bloomsbury whom we will be ordering our books from, I was over the moon to see they have expanded the titles they print in Arabic.
Amongst them – A Thousand Splendid Suns, The Kite Runner, and the Steve Jobs Biography, there were also several children’s books, all which have sold thousands of copies in their english translations.
This is very exciting for us, as we are currently working on our Muslim library model for secondary boy schools and girl schools. 25% of Kenya is Muslim, and at these schools, Arabic is the third language taught in the curriculum. We had been struggling to find interesting and current books in arabic that the students would be just as likely to read had they been in English. Being able to purchase copies of both the English and Arabic versions will help them tremendously in comprehension as well.
