We have just found out that local villagers are coming into Shella Primary School to borrow the books we have donated over the past 2 years. This is immensely encouraging for us, as when we are selecting our books, especially for closely knit communities such as Shella, we always try to keep the community’s interests, needs, and values as a deciding factor.

We believe that libraries such as Shella Primary should incorporate an aspect of community use, so that more people can benefit from the books. This also has another profound effect. When other community members such as parents use the library, they feel like stakeholders of that library. When this happens, they are much more likely to ensure the care and longevity of the library and its contents. We are so pleased this is happening in Shella.
