Today was our first ever international book drive. Hosted by the New Dawn Society at Blaze Burger Restaurant, we managed to raise nearly 2000 books through the tremendous support of our new Bahraini friends.
It was really inspiring to meet all of the people who rallied to support our cause, bringing in boxes of books which varied from novels, to arabic series, to encyclopedias, to Qurans.
Once everybody had arrived, I gave a presentation on the work the Field-Marsham Foundation does in Africa, and why we are trying to rally support for our Muslim Library Model.
Everyone helped get the word out through twitter, which was amazing for us as we had people contacting us even after the event because they wanted to donate books.
We are so tremendously grateful and inspired with how supportive the New Dawn Society members and friends were for our book drive. Many expressed an interest in doing more book drives and fundraising for our projects, which marks this trip to Bahrain a truly successful initiative.
