It has been nearly a year since I was last at Lewa Conservancy, to do an assessment of schools in their area that had requested funding (note for projects looking for funding – it always takes about a year for assessments to be completed, projects to get approved, and plans to get finalized). I am now going back to do site visits at two schools where we have agreed to donate libraries. At one of the schools, we will also be donating a girls dormitory. Although this is an unusual undertaking for us, we saw it as directly relevant to the pursuit of education for these girls, as it was extraordinarily dangerous for them to walk home at night after school, and their education was suffering severely.
