Now looking back, we feel blessed to have come so far since launching KEY, 16 years ago.

Nyakundi Nyambane (KEY librarian) and Gladys Kerich (Key manager), dedicated to keeping standards in KEY libraries, attended IFLA-WLIC to learn best practices at the highest level.

Warmly embraced by IFLA’s community, Nyakundi and Gladys joined 50 librarians from around the world in reading out excerpts of a James Joyce’s Ulysses, each one of us reading it in our own language while walking through Trinity College square in Dublin. This was the curtain raiser for the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions world conference (IFLA-WLIC) in June, 2022. Former President of Ireland Mary Robinson gave the conference’s keynote address.

IFLA-WLIC is the world’s most important international library conference and attracts more than 2,000 delegates from more than 110 countries. Delegates participate in three days of talks, workshops and exhibitions on topics ranging from Library History to Artificial Intelligence.
