To KEY: a Message from Miriam Gerald, Librarian at Lewa Downs School Library

The new computers that you recently added to the library are a welcome addition that’s helping meet the growing need for digital access in the school and the community.

Lewa Downs Primary KEY library

One of the biggest advantages of the Lewa Downs School Library is its reliable WiFi connection. With the high cost of mobile data, many community members now choose to work from the library to save on bundles while staying connected. Making internet access free for the library’s users has made the space especially valuable for students and learners.

Previously, users had to share one desktop computer or bring their own laptops. Now, with more computers available, the library is better equipped to support digital learning and research.

Recently, university students have used the library to attend online classes, write reports, work on scholarship updates, and develop coding projects. For example, a Pwani University student wrote a report to his scholarship donor, a Karatina University student worked on a coding program, and a Zetech University student attended IT classes online, all within our KEY library space.

With strong WiFi and improved tech resources, our library is growing into a vital hub for education, access, and opportunity. We’re grateful to see this happening!
