Today I spent the day at the United Nations helping my friend Sansi set up for a 5 day event she has organized with the Global Peace Initiative of Women. This year marks the GPIW’s 10th anniversary since its founding at the Palais des Nations in Geneva in 2002, with Kofi Annan playing a huge role in its inception.
Speakers tomorrow are going to include figures such as Achin Steiner (UNEP Executive Director), and Kuki Gallmann (renown writer and conservationist). This was my first time visiting the immaculate UN grounds, right across from the US Embassy. Not only is it the hub of international cooperation for East Africa and the Middle East, it allegedly has a better gym and bigger pool than its American neighbours. I’m not sure if either are included in the itinerary tomorrow. Stay tuned.
