The KEY team was invited by Michael Dowling, ALA Director of International Relations Office, to present at the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference & Exhibition in Chicago, IL, hosted between June 22nd and 27th, 2023. This premier event delivered top-tier education and comprehensive solutions to address pressing challenges in the field of Information Sciences. With inspiring leaders and speakers, the conference provided motivational and intellectual stimulation, offering access to multimedia materials, dynamic stages, meet the Authors sessions, and Poster sessions.
Our presentation “Making a difference in School Libraries in Kenya- an Opportunity for you to volunteer” showcased KEY’s impact in school libraries across Kenya, Tanzania, and Ghana. The unexpectedly high turnout at our presentation generated significant interest in our organization and its transformative initiatives. Overall, our experience at the conference was invaluable to attendees, providing deep insights into current library trends, challenges, and opportunities in developing countries. The knowledge gained undoubtedly informed our approach to library design, services, programming, and professional development. We are committed to leveraging these lessons to enhance our services, advocate for school libraries in Africa and beyond, and empower both users and librarians.
