In recognition of KEY and our Head Librarian Nyakundi James’ expertise, innovation and invaluable contributions in supporting school libraries, Nyakundi has been selected to participate in the 2024 Mortenson Center Associates Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (3rd to 26th June ).

The Mortenson Center Associates Program, themed “Transforming Libraries: New Roles and Impact,” is a professional development and leadership initiative designed to empower library professionals with the latest knowledge, skills, and insights to navigate the evolving landscape of libraries. Nyakundi is thrilled to have this opportunity to network with peers, engage in learning experiences, and gain new perspectives from leading experts in the field.

Nyakundi’s leadership has been instrumental in driving KEY Libraries’ programs such as reading programs, professional development workshops and fostering closer working relationships with stakeholders. Participating in the Mortenson Center Associates Program will amplify his capacity to bring broader vision to KEY’s work and Kenya’s library environment.
